AccessMatters 3-Year Grant

Philadelphia Health Partnership Awards AccessMatters 3-Year Grant

PHP has awarded a three-year grant of $150,000 to AccessMatters in support of their advocacy to strengthen access to sexual and reproductive health care, family planning services, and comprehensive sex education. AccessMatters’ work educating stakeholders, facilitating cross-sector coalitions, and developing strategic messaging and advocacy tools is vital to furthering their mission: to protect, expand, and enhance equitable access to sexual and reproductive health care and information for all people.

AccessMatters’ advocacy priorities include:

  • Educating people in Philadelphia and throughout Pennsylvania about their rights to access a full range of sexual and reproductive health care services, including contraception, family planning services, and abortion care, and combating misinformation.
  • Building support for comprehensive sex education in the Philadelphia region and across Pennsylvania schools in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Coalition for Sex Ed.
  • Improving health outcomes for pregnant/birthing/postpartum people and their children and reducing Black pregnancy-related deaths as part of the work of the Pennsylvania Perinatal Partnership (PPP) – a program of AccessMatters that convenes nonprofit and social service organizations, government agencies, and individual practitioners that support the health and wellness of Pennsylvanians throughout the perinatal and postpartum periods and while parenting young children.

For more than 50 years, AccessMatters has been working to promote sexual and reproductive rights and services and is now at the forefront of responding to a changing landscape in which states have more power to curtail or protect access to comprehensive care and services.
