Our Purpose

Our Advocate initiative advances policy, systems, and structural change to achieve equity in health. We support organizing and collective action to eliminate disparities in health and well-being based on race, ethnicity, national origin, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, environment, and background.

Our Priorities

Our priorities include:

Organizing community members affected by disparities in health and well-being to exercise voice and leadership in advocacy efforts;
Mobilizing care and service providers and cross-sector stakeholders to participate in collective action on equity in health issues.

Advocate Grantees

Advocacy to protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care, family planning services, and comprehensive sex education

Advocacy to improve children’s access to quality, equitable health insurance and care, child care, and early intervention services and reduce childhood lead poisoning

Collaboration to improve civic information and engagement regarding city government activities and their impact on people’s lives (Lenfest Institute for Journalism is the organizational home)

Community organizing, civic engagement, and advocacy to advance reproductive justice

Advocacy to improve access to quality, equitable child and perinatal care and services including health insurance, child care, early intervention services, and home visiting services

Nonprofit partnership to expand civic participation, make voting easier, and secure equitable representation in government

Advocacy, coalition-building, and community health organizing to expand and protect access to quality, equitable, and affordable health care for Pennsylvanians

Statewide collaboration to improve the Pennsylvania Infant Toddler Early Intervention system (Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children is the fiscal agent)
