Our Vision and Mission
At Philadelphia Health Partnership (PHP), we believe that who you are, where you live, how you grow up, and what you do for a living should not limit your chances to thrive. Yet in Philadelphia today, a person’s identity, neighborhood, family background, and economic status – among many other social conditions – are unjustly linked with disparities in health and well-being. By striving to fulfill the below vision and mission, PHP focuses on advancing Equity in Health by making grants, building capacity, and fostering collaboration.
Vision and Mission
Vision
We envision a Philadelphia in which everyone, particularly those who have faced barriers to opportunity, achieves optimal health and well-being.
Mission
Our mission is to advocate for and resource equitable, quality care and services that improve the health and well-being of people in Philadelphia.
Guiding Principles
Equity in Health
We believe that attaining optimal physical, mental, and social well-being across the lifespan is a human right. We are committed to the elimination of health disparities based on socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, environment, and background.
Racial Justice
We support equitable opportunities and outcomes for individuals and groups impacted by structural racism and historic injustice and colonialism. We are committed to proactive fair treatment of people of all races, inclusive of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).
Engagement
We believe in actively engaging diverse community members so they can exercise voice and leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of systems, policies, and programs to advance health and well-being.
Responsiveness
We are committed to care and services that respect individual and cultural values and preferences and that adapt to the changing needs and priorities of diverse populations and communities.
What Works
We value practices informed by research and community experience that can be sustained, and when appropriate, replicated and expanded.
Organizational Strength
We are dedicated to partnering with nonprofits in Philadelphia to strengthen their capacity to fulfill their missions.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We believe that a strong nonprofit sector includes and represents the diversity of its constituents and has leadership that promotes equity and belonging.
Collaboration
We believe that working collaboratively across systems and sectors and in partnership with nonprofit organizations and other foundations will increase our collective ability to improve health and well-being in Philadelphia.
